If you are on low income, elderly, or disabled your local Home Improvement Agency
(HIA) could help you to improve, repair, maintain or adapt your home. There are
about 300 not for profit locally based HIAs around the country, that can help in
varying ways. Assistance can include putting together flat pack furniture or looking
after your garden. To search and find your nearest Home Improvement Agency
go to their website www.foundations.uk.com.
Alternatively the grant search from independent charity Turn2us helps you check
for any charities that may help with things like bills, furniture, decorating and
household expenses.
The grants will depend on an individual’s circumstances, income, age, maybe any
illnesses, occupation or their nationality. To check if you are eligible for this help

Help with your utility arrears, as well as grants to make your home more energy
efficient some utility companies also offer them to help if you have big arrears on
your electricity, gas or water bills. you will need to be a customer of the company,
check the company you are using to see if it has a similar scheme.

warmfront, which gives homeowners or those who are renting from a private
